Rapping in the 413: LuieGO and the eGOmaniAKS (2014)

Luis Fernandez aka LuieGo and his band the eGOmaniAKs are pioneers in a soundscape without much of a rap history or following. However, they are quickly creating a scene through their unique sound. Although LuieGO sometimes performs with a DJ, he prefers to perform with the eGOmaniAKs, a live band, to create what Luis describes feels like “two shows in one.“ The difference between a live band set and a DJ set is best understood if felt. The energy and ambiance LuieGO and the eGOmaniAKs bring win over every crowd.

Luis and his bandmates Eric Yelle, Noah Cohen-Corbett, and Myles Darby are all from the Pioneer Valley and knew each other from their school days. They formed in the summer of 2013 and steadily started building a following, performing dozens of shows from the Five Colleges to New York and Vermont. In April 2014, they opened up for big-name rapper Wale for the University of Massachusetts spring concert. LuieGO and the eGOmaniAKs are bringing a distinct style of rap to young audiences and popularizing a genre that has yet to fully root itself in the Pioneer Valley.

Luis is expecting to release his second mixtape, “Authentic Thoughts” this summer.
